The leaders of Germany, France and Britain are calling on Iran to return to the negotiating table following unprecedented US attacks on key Iranian nuclear sites.

“We call upon Iran to engage in negotiations leading to an agreement that addresses all concerns associated with its nuclear program,” reads a joint statement by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The US overnight attacks on three Iranian nuclear facilities, which involved 14 massive bunker-busting bombs according to the Pentagon, mark a serious escalation in the war between Israel and Iran, and have sparked widespread international alarm.

Israel launched large-scale attacks on Iranian targets on June 13, saying it aims to prevent the country from building a nuclear weapon, a charge Tehran has consistently denied.
